Rules For ALL Events

Origins Warhammer “House Rules”
The following rules will apply to all events run by Legendary Gamers at the 2012 Origins Game Fair.
General Rules:
(1)    Warhammer 8th Edition shall be used
a.       Official Errata/FAQ and White Dwarf Official Rules shall be used
(2)    Only armies from approved army books may be used.
a.       If you want to use an “alternate” army book, you MUST get approval
(3)    You should attempt to resolve all rules questions/issues with your opponent prior to seeking Judge rulings. However, if you seek a judge ruling we are happy to give one, bear the following in mind.
a.       We are hobbyists and gamers too, we are not rules experts, when we give a ruling it will be in the interest of efficiency, so you may not like what we say.
b.      Judge rulings are final, even if they are found to later contradict the BRB.
c.       No judge ruling shall be considered precedent for future rules issues.
(4)    If you have a rules question you want answered prior to the tourney, we are happy to provide one and will do our best to research the correct response.
(5)    For EVERY event you should bring a number of army lists equal to the rounds of the tournament +2 (e.g. you should have a copy for every opponent, the judges, and yourself)
(6)    If it all possible, army lists should be created using some form of standardized format.
(7)    If you are unable to bring multiple copies, we will accommodate you, this is particularly problematic for “drop ins” at the convention scene. Note that you may receive a sportsmanship penalty however.
ARMY CONSTRUCTION RULES
(1)    All tournaments will abide by the standard army creation guidelines in the BRB
a.       The “Big Battles” tournament will use GRAND ARMY RULES
b.      For 2012, the “how you use it” tournament is no longer using warbands, it is now standard construction
(2)    Non Games-Workshop models are welcome, but should attempt to convey the model/unit they are replacing.
(3)    Proxy models are acceptable, particularly when they are being used for a theme.
(4)    Unpainted armies and models are welcome at Origins, however unpainted armies will not be eligible for all awards.
(5)    The following guidelines should be noted, these are not fast restrictions, however any army not in compliance will receive a composition penalty: (does not apply for the Big Battles event)
a.       No army should have any single unit exceeding 500 points
                                                               i.      This does not include characters, nor does it include characters joining a unit
b.      No unit in your army should exceed 50 models.
c.       Your army should not include any double rares in excess of 100 points each
d.      Your army should have at least 5 units in total
GAMEPLAY RULES
(1)    TLOS shall be used. We have attempted to create “tall hills” that will actually effect line of sight. If there is a “close call” where a monster or other large unit is completely behind a hill but a small portion is seen over the hill, you should consider the monster “hidden”.
a.       Quite simply, not all terrain and models have “caught up” with the new TLOS rules yet
(2)    All terrain is normal terrain unless otherwise specified by your scenario or your table
a.       Note that some tables will have special terrain/rules in effect
(3)    Whenever a scenario rule and a table rule might contradict, the scenario rule shall prevail
(4)    MAGIC RULES!!!
a.       There is a maximum of 12 power dice used per player per turn.
                                                               i.      Note that it still may be possible to generate more than 12.
b.      Magic Resistance shall provide a ward against spells that ordinarily would not get one
                                                               i.      (e.g. your unit is effected by dwellers but has MR2, you would take the appropriate test and then any model failing would receive a 5+ ward save against the spell)

(5)    All events are by default an open-list environment. If you and your opponent wish to play closed list that is fine.
